An American Tragedy, Boston Marathon 2013

An American Tragedy Cafe 2000

Acrylic pallet knife painting on canvas 16 x 20

The Finish should not have been interrupted by violence at the hand of man, we as a people shall finish what we start even when others try to stop us. This is the American way in the midst of An American Tragedy.

  1. It has also been the Australian way. They made us tough although I’m not so sure about the younger generation. My kids seem to flake so easily. Give up. I’m sending our son off to Scouts once we’re out of winter.
I really love your painting although what happened was awful. You capture what was meant to be so beautifully. Feel like I’m there.

  2. Thank You so very much Roweee, You will notice that there is no explosion in this painting as I didnt want to give those who were responsible for the bombing any satisfaction for their act of violence, this piece is meant to show a true finish in the honor of tradition

  3. It’s a little hard for me to appreciate the sense of the Boston Marathon all the way from Australia or what it was like terror struck but I have read a few posts that brought it to life for me and your painting compliments them well. I don’t know how we would feel if terror struck at our heart the way it has in America. We perhaps naively put faith in our isolation and feel we are safe. Whenever something goes bad globally, it’s like we have an outboard motor attached up the top somewhere around Darwin and we mentally move closer to Antarctica and shut off.

  6. I also think that you captured it well. Such a senseless tragedy and agree that not showing the explosion is a good idea.

  7. My pleasure.
